Trapped!

Maybe I'm a cruel mom for thinking this is hilarious and documenting it but I just can't help myself. With her new climbing frenzy, Meghan gets up on everything she possibly can to make herself taller. Unfortunately, she doesn't always consider the consequences of her actions. For example: getting trapped underneath the table. Ah well. We shall learn.

Phone Funnies

Meghan loves phones. She calls them "Hi"s. The other day she pointed at my house phone to ask for it and said "Hi, Hi!" But she has also decided that anything that is remotely boxlike can be used as a phone. She picks them up, puts them on her cheek and says "Hi." Here she is with her dad's battery charger. She much prefers mom's cell phone or the real house phone though and is often offended when I trade her a toy phone for the real phone because I need to call someone.

She absolutely loves my cell phone. She also loves to help load and unload the dishwasher. But combining the two is not a good idea.

Boxes

Meghan has decided that if a basket or box can hold her, it should. She has been climbing into everything from laundry hampers to her own toy box. Here is some photo evidence.

Here are some more pictures of Meghan chilling in the box that was carrying our Christmas present from Kyle's brother Brian (a new computer).

More pictures of Meghan in boxes.
Here is Meghan in the sock basket.

And here is Meghan in our suitcase as we're getting ready to pack for our trip to Utah.

Decorating for Christmas

Christmas comes but once a year. Right? Right. So we broke out the decorations about two Saturdays before it happened and decorated. Meghan loved helping.

We even decorated the Anti-Falling Meghan proof barrier.

You'll notice that the lower 1/3 of the tree has practically no decorations - only the orbs with the little hooks removed so Meghan could decorate and undecorate her part of the tree without stabbing herself or anyone else.

It definitely made it feel a lot more like Christmas.

Would You Believe... A Motion Picture?

Believe it or not, Get Smart will be in theaters June 20, 2008. Steve Carell plays as Maxwell Smart and Anne Hathaway is Agent 99. Personally, I think its a bit of an age mismatch, but we'll see how it works.

Pretty Meghan

It Followed Me Home - Can I Keep It?

In Florida, Over thanksgiving we went down to Florida. Tanya has documented this very well. The cool thing is what we brought back. An Anole lizard caught us. It climbed on Meghan's new jogger stroller, and rode in our car all the way back to Maryland. I really can't be sure that we didn't leave another for the rental car company, but I don't think so. It stayed on the stroller for a couple of days, and then when Tanya took the stroller out for its maiden voyage, she was greeted by our little lizard friend. She called me at work and asked me what to do. I decided that we should keep it. So now we have a little lizard friend, a Floridian souvenir.

On a tangential note, selling lizards as pets is a smart Idea. The cheapest thing that you'd get in buying an anole lizard is the actual lizard.

Lizard: 6$
Lizard Cage: 100$
Enjoying a pet lizard: priceless

(Not that we spent quite this much, but it's representative of what they recommend that you spend.)

Florida Fun - Saturday Canoeing

On Saturday we also went boating in the Indian River Lagoon. There are little islands in the middle of the lagoon, but our favorite visiting place is Scout Island.

On arriving at the lagoon, Meghan delighted in playing in the sand and water. She even gave herself a cleansing sand rub - perfect for opening blocked pores. She made sure to apply lots and lots to her hair.
After a short time, Kyle arrived with his native guide paddling the red canoe. Meghan and I hopped aboard and set off for the island. Meghan was upset that we didn't just stay and play on the beach. She didn't like the life-jacket and didn't like just sitting in the boat. But once we were on the island she had fun playing in the sand again. Unfortunately, the boats took off again, stranding us there. We were about to start walking across the lagoon to reach shore but the natives spotted us and returned to pick us up.

Meanwhile, on shore, Corinna and dedicated Explorer Vonn had fun in the boats.
But be careful of the Florida natives - they're fierce.

After so much fun, it was time to change and have lunch. Unfortunately, Vonn forgot to bring a change of clothes and had to wear some spares. But since Grandma Alice only has granddaughters to watch at home, the spares belonged to Lelia and were quite pretty and pink.
