And Now For All The Random Baby Shots

Well look at that. She's still a baby.

No longer scared of these strange dangling toys

Silly Daddy. Posture is for developed peoples with sufficient core strength.

Look into my eyes.... Now you will obey my every command...

Googleween

So Google threw a free Halloween party for Googlers and their families with free food, free candy, free entertainment, free Android toys, free pumpkins to decorate, and possibly free snakes if you could manage to sneak one out of the observatory tent.

Mom was a little... stressed by the crowds. For those of you who can't tell, I am supposed to be a Noogler. Ha ha, lame Google joke...

Yeah, that hat didn't last long.

Ahhh... Google grass is so much greener...

Swing Sweetie

There was just something so... Cuddly about these pictures.

Santa Cruz Boardwalk

At some point I suppose I'll stop bothering with the camera to Boardwalk. Now is not that time.

For some reason Addy never seemed entirely happy to be riding the rides.

The Peril of Markers

We experimented with markers recently. I discovered that on the PATMM scale (Post-Activity Traumatized Mom Meltdown) they rank far higher than crayons or coloring pencils but lower on the PLTD scale (Potential Long Term Damage). However, PATMM was just too high to be overridden by the low PLTD so we no longer have markers. I just don't like being angry...

San Vernon Park

So this is a small park on the way to Google. We tried it out one day when we couldn't figure out where the playgroup park was supposed to be even though we followed the directions.

This playground had a Helicopter Mom Territory scent to it.
Perhaps it was the sign warning those driving down the out-of-the-way 25 mph residential zone:
(I have never seen one of these before)

Perhaps it was the overthought crafted plastic stairs:

Perhaps it was the Genuine Earth-Friendly Recycled Tires blue padding:
(there's even a placard to verify the earth friendliness so that you can be sure you're taking your children to the perfect PC playground. Sorry, I lacked the foresight to snap a shot of the placard.)

Perhaps it was the butchered Merry-Go-Round
Supposedly this must be safer because it can only be cranked to kid-flinging-speeds by a parent or a sufficiently tall playground buddy. Or perhaps its simply an attempt to decrease the number of kids flying off at once to decrease the overall child casualty rating.
(Fun math problem for Helicopter Moms: If a Merry-Go-Round can fling eight children in the same amount of time that a Single-Go-Round can fling one, what is the total cash value you can sue the city for if your child is the one that flies off the Single-Go-Round?)
It must be noted that Meghan got rather dizzy but didn't fly off because my arm started aching before I could make her lose her grip.

Ultimately, I may have gotten those vibes because of the Helicopter Mom who showed up and had a "too far" radius of the other swingset. Or maybe she was worried because the kid was just too close to where I was trying to fling Meghan off the Single-Go-Round. Hmmm.

Joking aside, its a nice quiet park on a quiet street. A little shady for cool weather but I imagine it's lovely during summer. It's small enough that you can keep track of your kids from pretty much anywhere on the playground. A typical park.

Laundry Day

A Saturday in the Mountains

One Saturday we drove into the mountains. We got a little lost but finally found a nice trail to rapidly exhaust and humiliate Mommy. I now try to exercise so it will never happen again - the exhaustion part, not the hiking a trail part.

Meghan would slide down the little dips like they were playground slides...
...resulting in this.

Calm down, Floridians. It's not a dune, it's just a mountain. I didn't think she could cause permanent erosion damage even if I let her dig all day. As far as I can tell, the mountain is still there.

Don't you hate rocks in your shoe?

This was my favorite part of the drive. I was too slow with the movie camera to catch the synchronized head wobble.

All My Girls

The girls frustrated all my efforts to get this imperfect shot. But that's the trouble of working with children I'm afraid.
